Of this tiny Norman church, Pevsner - the famous architectural historian and chronicler of the nation's churches - wrote that "for sumptuousness of decoration the little church can hold its own with any 12th century building in England".

Built partly of Caen stone, and embellished with a profusion of carved animals, plants, grotesques and ornamentation, this church is like no other in Kent.
